Why OHANA?
Welcome to OHANA Fitness! What started in 2017 as a gathering of neighborhood moms in my garage, has now blossomed into an incredible community of empowered rock stars! Together, we get stronger, enhance mobility, improve confidence, surround each other with support, and commit to make our time together count. I am absolutely thrilled to work with so many amazing individuals every day, living out my passion as a fitness and nutrition coach. Join us, and be part of our motivating and supportive family, where we cheer each other on in our journey to become the strongest, most sturdy and BAD ASS versions of ourselves together!
All About Your Coach - Janae Reed
The challenge of bettering myself through sports and fitness has been alive in me since I started dancing at the age of 6 years old. I grew up dancing, competing in gymnastics, playing volleyball, running track, and loving my Jane Fonda and Buns of Steel videos. That fire that was lit a long time ago has only grown hotter and bigger ever since.
I attended Cal Poly Pomona University for college. While in school, I worked on campus at the Wellness Center and Bronco Fitness Center. It was at the Bronco Fitness Center where I was given the opportunity to teach my first group exercise class. September of 2002, I put my dance and fitness experience to work teaching Cardio Hip Hop. It was a blast, and I was hooked! That kick started my fitness coaching career! Since then, I have taught an array of classes (step, spin, sculpt, boot camps, HIIT, etc).
In 2017, I was approached by a group of neighborhood moms who knew I had knowledge, experience and a love for fitness, and they wanted me to help them. At the time, I was working full time as a Pharmaceutical Representative, so we worked out a schedule to meet early in my garage two days a week. My garage was just that, a garage with exposed rafters, strollers, bikes, tools, cement floor, and little to no equipment. My first equipment purchase was a set of four medicine balls! We met at 5:30am. It was fun, and I loved it! The passion was REAL! That was the beginning of OHANA Fitness!!
In 2022, I decided to go all in! I left the corporate world of Pharmaceutical Sales and made OHANA Fitness my full-time passion job! OHANA Fitness has organically grown in the most amazing way that I never expected. We now have 5 days a week of classes, personal training sessions throughout the day, remote online fitness coaching, as well as remote online nutrition coaching. I have the honor to work with awesome people near and far with their fitness, nutrition and overall health journey. OHANA is family. It is a community of growth, support, relationships, challenges, strength, and moving forward together. Getting to do what I do every day is a beautiful thing, and I sometimes can't believe that I actually get to call it my job!
I am certified with NASM as a Certified Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach, Sports Enhancement Specialist, and Women's Fitness Specialist. I am also certified with NCSF as a Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Specific Certified Trainer.
Outside of coaching, I love working on my own fitness, spending lots of time with my family, cooking, reading, spending days at the beach, travel when I can, and truly try to enjoy the world around me! I have an amazing husband and three equally amazing kids who fuel my desire to be better every day and serve them the way they support me.
I love what I do, and I am honored by the many people I get to work with. When you become part of OHANA, we take care of each other, because we are family. Thank you for being here.
